It’s that time of the week again, friends and Uncommoners – time for our eHow experiment roundup!

December Earnings: $8.94

Articles Total: 70

Articles Written in December: 46

Articles Written This Week: 19

Today, I am up a little more than $3 from last week. This past week I monitored my earnings each day carefully, trying to mark important changes, and keeping a day to day record of what was making money, and what wasn’t.  Here are some of the more specific stats:

Friday: $5.78

Saturday: $5.92

Sunday: $6.17

Monday: $6.60

Tuesday: $7.01

Wednesday: $7.54

Thursday:  $7.54

Friday: $8.94

The daily values are all over the place, and in fact my per day rate dropped a little this week from an average of $0.48 cents a day to $0.45 cents a day.  Some days there was a change of only $.20, and as you can see between Wednesday an Thursday there was a change of $0.  However, between yesterday and today there was a $1.40 change.

Some of the articles that started to earn this week were How to Decorate an Apartment for Christmas (written 12/11), that earned $0.22, How to Use Bag, Borrow, or Steal (written 12/02), that earned $0.20, How to Make Money with Adsense (written 12/08), that earned $0.23, How to Locate the Best Place to Raise a Family (written 12/04), that earned $0.08, and How to Increase Weight Loss (Written 12/05), that earned $0.07.

Surprisingly, How to Get Out of Credit Card Debt earned nothing with its 70 views – I had anticipated some earning from it.

I have thirty articles to write to hit my goal of 100 for the month, and am starting to run out of steam on fresh topics.  I even wrote an articled called, “How to Find Topics for eHow Articles” in an attempt to get my creative juices flowing – anyone have suggestions?

One thing I know I’ll be doing is checking out the eHow Forum called “What Are Your Top Earners?” and see what other members have to say.  In addition to helping us answer our eHow riddle, it may also give me some good ideas on what to write about next!

How has everyone else been doing?  Anyone see a pattern yet?

I haven’t yet tried monetizing my intellectual property, but I think eHow sounds like a good way to start. Were you surprised by the discrepancy between your expectations and the outcomes?

Where did you get your blog layout from? I’d like to get one like it for my blog.

Hi Doug – eHow is a great way because it is a simple and effective site with a great community, and what’s even better is you retain the rights to your work to republish or redistribute as you like.

As far as my expectations, I think that we are zooming in on the day to day of this process, while the people who make a good amount of residual income from it just write the articles, leave them to marinate, and reap the income as it comes in. My hope still hasn’t changed – I want to be one of those people who can brag about earning $150 on eHow over the month without doing anything – and I think it is totally possible. But I think that we miss the longview in this experiment and therefore lose sight of the ultimate X-factor: time. Do I think I’ll get $150 from my efforts at the end of December? No (sadly!). But do I think that the work I am doing this month is laying the foundation for seeing larger eHow checks at the end of January, February, March and beyond? Heck Yes! And I will be keeping everyone up to date as it happens. The Great December eHow Experiment will be continuing long past December!

Thanks so much for your comment!

Hi Aaron – the theme is by Arcsin, and if you scroll to the bottom of the site and click on his name in the right corner it will take you to his site and his offered themes!

Hey Nacie, well done on writing 70 articles so far. That is truly amazing and is brilliant for future residual income!:)
As for me, I didn’t keep up with this experiment I’m afraid. I tried to keep uploading on Bukisa, but then got a commission for a project which kind of took top priority. I do plan to upload things on there again – so maybe mine will be the January experiment instead.
