Once you have made the decision to live your life with passion, the next step is to find it. The problem is that no one explains how to go about this process. The truth is that finding your passion is easier than you think.

I think that even the term “find” your passion is a bit of a misnomer. It implies that you have to do something or take some specific action to uncover it. Before you make plans (literally or figuratively) to embark on a quest to find this elusive thing called a passion, make sure that you are looking in the right place.

Find Passion by Looking Inward

If you really want to find your passion, don’t look outside of yourself for clues. You already have all the information you need and it’s right at your fingertips.

Passion isn’t something you will find by taking a trip somewhere but a change of scene can free you from the distractions which get in the way of finding your passion. I know, it would be easier if you could discover what it is by looking it up online, finding it written down beside your name in a book or even by cracking open a fortune cookie and reading the message on the little slip of paper.

Your passion can be much more subtle than that – at first anyway. You’ll know you’re on the right track when you find that you become so involved that it doesn’t feel like work. There is a particular lightness to an interest or activity that you feel passionate about.

Think About More Than Your Work

When you are trying to discover your passion, think about more than what you do to make a living. The thing you are passionate about can involve a hobby or an activity that has nothing to do with your employment activities. It may stem from volunteering your time to a cause which is important to you, singing, playing an instrument, gardening or anything else that you find enjoyable and fulfilling.

Once you find your passion and are fully engaged with it, you’ll know. One clue that you have found it is how easy it feels. If you are struggling to make the passion fit into your life as opposed to your life fitting your passion, then you haven’t discovered it yet.

Have you discovered your passion in life? Was it what you expected or were you surprised at what it turned out to be?
